ABOUT

Jittery Pens aims to develop and produce plays through collaboration amongst a diversity of writers and actors, providing them with a platform to experiment and explore different ways of telling stories.

The company was formed in August 2017 by three actor/writers; Arghierenia Kyrimi, Florence Wright, and Ugo Nelson. All of whom trained together at Drama Studio London and all of whom had a passion for writing and innovative storytelling.

Arghierenia Kyrimi - Co-founder

Arghierenia is a bicultural actor and writer originally from Athens, Greece. She moved to London in 2012, where she trained as an actor at London School of Dramatic Art and Drama Studio London, graduating from the latter in 2017.

She first started writing at the age of 11, using writing as a creative outlet and for years had no intention of turning it into a profession. At 18 she decided to submit a screenplay in the British Film Festival scriptwriting competition and her script reached the final rounds of the competition.

After graduating from LSDA in 2014 she created the RG theatre company, which first performed at the 'Young Friends of the Almeida Scratch Night' at the Almeida Theatre. In 2015 Arghierenia's company produced her original play 'Fleshed Out' at the Camden Fringe Festival and received fantastic audience feedback. At DSL, her film scene 'Flatmates' was produced as part of the film week module.

Arghierenia has experimented with all forms of creative writing, including poetry. Currently, she is undertaking a Comprehensive Creative Writing course with the Writers Bureau to solidify her knowledge.

Florence Wright - Co-founder

Florence originally comes from Guildford in Surrey and is a recent graduate of Drama Studio London where she studied on their two year course in professional acting. She first got into writing theatre as a student at sixth form college where she was awarded the prize for 'Outstanding Performance in Drama’ for her year group. Under her teacher's instruction she took part in a workshop led by a professional playwright which culminated in producing a collaborative piece called 'Scar Tissue' which was then performed by the students at the college.

After that she went on to study English at King’s College in London where she gained a First Class Honours Degree. Here she was an active member of the drama societies ‘The King’s Players’ and ‘King’s Shakespeare Society’, performing in many shows with them. She continued to write her own short pieces alongside her studies at university and then at drama school. As a student at Drama Studio she wrote a sketch entitled ‘Nature’s Last Mystery’, a mock nature documentary about drama students for the Christmas cabaret which was performed in the school’s theatre.

She is currently taking part in a course for playwriting at The National Theatre led by Royal Court dramaturg Ola Animashawun. Florence is delighted to be a part of Jittery Pens Productions and is excited to be collaborating on their first project.

Ugo Nelson - Co-founder

Ugo was raised in London and although having lived in other parts of the United Kingdom, this is where he calls home. He first started writing when he was introduced to creative writing as a young child in primary school and immediately took to it. He then went on to add poetry to his list of writing feats, resulting in being a published poet at the age of 16. He currently is very much involved in television and film script writing, with a slate of one hour TV drama original pilots and feature-length/short film screenplays under his belt, some of which are currently in discussion with major television production companies. Staying true to his roots, he continues to write and perform many spoken word pieces across London. Upon graduating from Drama Studio London recently, he helped in the formation of innovative writing/theatre company, Jittery Pens Productions.

I find writing to be a healthy creative outlet for what would otherwise be a mind brimming with ideas and thoughts. The paper, to me, is always a dutiful companion.
